We are looking for a proactive and hands-on person in a hybrid role of Van Drive/Customer Experience Specialist to support the day to day running of our furniture and white goods recycling operations. Working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor you will play a key role in collecting and delivering donated furniture, keeping our warehouse organised and serving our instore customers, helping us deliver essential servuces to the community.
We see this as a flexible role between the warehouse and van crew however initially this will be primarily supporting our van crew to team to deliver and collect furniture.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a Van Driver role, at a time of exciting growth for our charity.
Your standard working pattern will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - 08.30 to 16.30 at KFR Swindon but there will be an opportunity to cover team holidays both on the van and in the warehouse.
The hourly rate for this position will be £14.21.
What You’ll Do
Van Crew Operations
- Deliver and collect donated furniture to and from our customers
- Support the loading and unloading of donated furniture efficiently while ensuring all items are secured for transport.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers to coordinate schedules and logistics.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on the vehicle to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Plan delivery and collection routes whilst being proactive in identifying areas for increased route efficiency.
Warehouse Operations
- Assist with daily warehouse activities and stock movement.
- Maintain a safe, clean, working environment for both staff and customers
- Approach challenges with a positive and proactive attitude to find workable resolutions.
- Support, coach and mentor younger work experience volunteers
- Provide outstanding customer support by addressing enquiries and assisting with any issues during transit.
- Be enthusiastic about recycling and furniture reuse
- Oversee the management of the inbound and outbound area
- Help to identify ways to maximise selling space in the warehouse unit
Qualifications and Personal Qualities
- Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record
- Strong communication skills to engage positively with customers and team members
- Confidence in engaging with customers and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Great organisational skills
- Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.
- A good knowledge of the Swindon and Wiltshire local area.
