We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager to help lead our restaurant operations at Aurelia, Aylesbury's premier dining destination. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a sharp eye for service standards, and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality experiences. This role involves running the floor during service, supporting the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, developing the front-of-house team, and ensuring our standards are upheld at every turn. The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in maintaining Aurelia's reputation for excellence in service, atmosphere, and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee front-of-house service from open to close, setting the standard for the team and ensuring every guest has an outstanding experience.
- Manage daily operations of the restaurant, including staff scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Build and manage rotas, control labour costs, and ensure the venue is properly staffed for every service.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to control GP and minimise waste.
- Oversee food safety, allergen, and licensing compliance, ensuring a safe and legal environment for staff and guests.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures across the floor and bar.
- Develop and motivate the team through hands-on coaching, training, and effective conflict resolution.
- Ensure smooth communication between front-of-house, bar, and kitchen teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Step up to run the venue in the General Manager's absence.
- Support our cocktail and drinks programme, maintaining high standards across the bar.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Assistant Manager or strong Supervisor within a quality restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Demonstrated team management skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively through a busy service.
- Solid understanding of restaurant operations including rotas, stock control, and GP.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, allergens, and licensing.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and stay calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of hospitality best practices, serving standards, and customer service excellence.
- Good understanding of cocktails and drinks is highly desirable given our bar programme.
- Leadership qualities combined with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Relevant qualifications in hospitality management are preferred but not essential.
