Rutledge Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Transport Planner for a leading transport and logistics company based in the Ballymena area.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and growing business, planning and coordinating full-load transport operations across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient vehicle utilisation, maintaining excellent customer service, and supporting the day-to-day running of the transport operation.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 1 Saturday in every 3 (finish at lunchtime)
- 1 on-call rota in every 6 weeks
- Additional payment for Saturday shifts and hours worked after 6:00 PM
Pay Rate:
Starting salary depending on experience, plus additional payments for Saturday working and evening hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule and optimise daily transport routes across the UK and Ireland
- Allocate work efficiently to drivers and subcontractors
- Monitor vehicle movements and respond to live operational issues
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers and internal departments
- Conduct driver pre-briefs and debriefs
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation and company procedures
- Maintain high levels of customer service and operational performance
- Assist with KPI reporting and transport performance monitoring
- Work collaboratively with the wider transport team to maximise fleet efficiency
Requirements / Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience in Transport Planning, Fleet Coordination or a similar logistics role
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK and Ireland
- Understanding of Drivers' Hours, Tachograph Regulations and the Working Time Directive
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and perform well under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Good IT skills and experience using transport planning systems
- CPC qualification is desirable but not essential
