The Ship is a growing, community-focused village pub, and we’re looking for a reliable, hands-on Cook to help us deliver quality, comforting pub food with consistency and care. Your Role
As a Cook at The Ship, you’ll play a key part in shaping our food offer and keeping our kitchen running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Kitchen Standards: Keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Stock Management: Assisting with stock checks, rotation, and basic ordering.
- Service Support: Working closely with the bar team to ensure timely service during busy periods.
- Menu Delivery: Helping maintain our core menu and supporting specials or event food when required.
- General Duties: Washing up, cleaning down, and ensuring the kitchen is ready for the next shift.
What We’re Looking For
- Experienced: Previous kitchen or cooking experience is preferred, ideally in a pub or similar environment.
- Reliable & Consistent: You turn up ready to work and take pride in delivering good food every time.
- Organised: You can keep a tidy, safe kitchen and work efficiently under pressure.
- Calm & Practical: You stay focused during busy service and solve problems as they arise.
- Team Player: You work well with the wider pub team and communicate clearly..
