Human Data Sciences (HDS) is a health research and analytics company. We use real-world data to support better decision-making in healthcare.
We’re looking for an exceptionally organised, dependable and personable Business Operations Coordinator who takes pride in keeping the day-to-day running of HDS smooth and on track.
This is a varied, hands-on role with a particular focus on bookkeeping and finance administration, alongside office management, people administration and general business operations.
You’ll work closely with our Business Operations Manager and have plenty of variety in your day-to-day work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Day-to-day bookkeeping, invoicing and reconciliations using Xero
- Processing expenses and preparing payment runs
- Keeping finance records accurate and organised
- Managing office supplies, utilities, suppliers and maintenance
- Coordinating cleaners, contractors, security and other office requirements
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and leaver administration
- Keeping employee records and HR documentation up to date
- Coordinating training, appraisal and policy reminders
- Organising practical arrangements for conferences and events
- Maintaining routine compliance and operational records
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has proven hands-on experience in bookkeeping or finance administration
- Has experience in operations, office management or business administration
- Is exceptionally organised, accurate and dependable
- Takes ownership of agreed tasks and makes sure they are completed properly and on time
- Plans ahead, keeps track of deadlines and notices when something may have been missed
- Is calm, practical and able to prioritise when several things need attention
- Is warm, approachable and professional when dealing with colleagues, suppliers, contractors and event organisers
- Handles financial and employee information with discretion
- Works confidently and independently while keeping the Business Operations Manager informed and raising problems early
- Takes pride in maintaining accurate records and getting the detail right
- Follows agreed processes and priorities while suggesting practical improvements where appropriate
- Is confident learning and using different systems

Qualifications & Experience
We value proven competence, reliability and good judgement more highly than any particular academic route.
- A relevant bookkeeping qualification, such as AAT Level 2 or above, an equivalent ICB qualification, or comparable practical experience would be useful
- Good working knowledge of Xero and Excel/Microsoft 365 is desirable; Xero certification would be advantageous
- Qualifications in business administration or people practice would be useful but are not essential
