We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. In this role, you will provide high-quality venepuncture services, ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for our patients.
Working 15 hours a week across 3 mornings, you will be responsible for obtaining blood samples from patients in a professional manner, maintaining clinical records, and preparing specimens for laboratory courier collection.
Key Requirements
- Venepuncture Qualification: A recognised certificate/competency in phlebotomy (essential).
- Experience: Previous clinical experience in a healthcare or GP practice setting (highly desirable).
- Skills: Excellent communication, a reassuring patient-facing manner, strong attention to detail, and sound computer literacy.
Responsibilites
- Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
- Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
- Maintaining accurate patient records on EMIS Web
- The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
- Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
- Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at West Suffolk Hospital
- Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
