We are seeking a Pastoral/Welfare Support Officer to join the school’s dedicated team. This role will focus on supporting students’ emotional, social, and behavioural needs, as well as working closely with staff, parents, and outside agencies to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the first point of contact for students requiring pastoral or welfare support
- Building positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and promoting a positive school culture
- Liaising with teachers, parents, and external professionals to coordinate support plans
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and overall wellbeing
- Providing targeted interventions and mentoring sessions to students
- Ensuring safeguarding policies are upheld and concerns are reported appropriately
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a pastoral, mentoring, or student support role (school-based experience desirable)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- A good understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and welfare procedures
- Organised and proactive approach to managing caseloads and support plans
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people
