This is a varied role combining customer service, administration, and financial transactions, and would suit someone who enjoys working with people while also taking pride in being organised and accurate.
You’ll be an important point of contact for our customers, helping them with their day-to-day building society needs, supporting them with digital services, and ensuring transactions and administration are completed accurately and in line with the required procedures.
Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone with strong customer service experience who is looking to develop their skills within a professional and supportive environment.
Why Westcotts?

You’ll benefit from:

- Full training and support to help you develop confidence in the role
- A friendly and professional working environment
- The opportunity to build strong relationships with customers and become an important part of the local community
Main Duties
This is a varied and customer-facing role where you’ll support both our customers and the smooth running of the Seaton office. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing customer deposits, withdrawals, account openings, and other transactions as part of our cashier service
- Providing friendly and helpful support to customers, including assisting them to navigate online platforms and resolving digital queries
- Answering telephone calls, taking accurate messages, and ensuring enquiries are directed to the appropriate person
- Completing administration in accordance with Yorkshire Building Society procedures, regulatory requirements, and business processes
- Opening and closing the office and helping to ensure reception areas and meeting rooms are clean, welcoming, and well presented
- Welcoming and assisting customers, visitors, and contractors and providing a professional and friendly reception service
- Supporting the wider team with general office administration and other duties as required
This list summarises the main duties of the role but is not exhaustive — you may be asked to support with additional tasks and projects at a similar level as required.

- A friendly, patient, and approachable manner, with the ability to support customers with a wide range of needs
- A financial services background would be advantageous
- Good numerical skills, with GCSE Mathematics or equivalent at Grade 4/5/C or above
- Previous experience handling money would be advantageous, although full training will be provided
- Good general IT skills and confidence using digital systems, with the ability to learn new technology quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and patiently with customers who may have additional communication needs
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A discreet, professional, and team-oriented approach
- A positive attitude and a genuine commitment to providing exceptional customer service

However, theoretically, the YBS may one day change our contractual terms so that we become required to open on Saturdays; although we have been given no reason to believe that this is currently planned. In such circumstances, there is the potential that this role may need to include Saturday mornings on a rota basis.

- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays pro-rata (increasing to 25 days plus bank holidays after 3 years’ service) with the option to buy or sell one week’s holiday at the discretion of the line partner.
