Job Purpose
To deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring the efficient operation of the bar. Bartenders are responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, preparing and serving drinks, maintaining cleanliness standards and contributing to a positive customer experience that encourages repeat visits.
At The Wick, bartenders are not simply serving drinks; they are ambassadors for the pub and play a vital role in building customer relationships and maintaining our reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Engage positively with customers and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Provide product recommendations where appropriate.
- Resolve minor customer issues professionally.
- Promote a positive customer experience at all times.
- Encourage repeat visits through excellent service.
Bar Operations
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain product quality and presentation standards.
- Ensure all drinks are served responsibly and in accordance with licensing laws.
- Operate tills and card payment systems accurately.
- Process customer transactions efficiently.
- Maintain stock levels throughout service.
Licensing & Compliance
- Comply with all licensing laws and company policies.
- Operate Challenge 25 procedures correctly.
- Refuse service where required by law.
- Report incidents, concerns or suspicious behaviour to management.
- Support the maintenance of a safe environment for customers and staff.
Cleanliness & Presentation
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the venue.
- Keep bar areas clean, organised and stocked.
- Complete opening and closing cleaning duties.
- Ensure glassware, equipment and customer areas remain presentable.
- Report maintenance issues promptly.
Teamwork
- Support colleagues during busy periods.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members.
- Assist with venue setup and event preparation when required.
- Contribute positively to team morale and culture.
- Participate in training and development activities.
Daily Duties
Opening Duties
- Prepare bar areas for service.
- Restock products.
- Check cleanliness standards.
- Ensure tills and equipment are operational.
During Service
- Serve customers efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness.
- Monitor stock levels.
- Engage positively with customers.
- Support colleagues as required.
Closing Duties
- Clean bar and customer areas.
- Replenish stock.
- Secure equipment.
- Complete closing checklists.
- Report any issues to management.

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
