Freelance Accountant – London Based
Location: London (primarily remote with occasional meetings if required)
Rate: £25 per hour

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freelance Accountant to join our team on a flexible, mostly remote basis. The successful candidate will have a solid accounting background and be capable of managing financial records through to trial balance with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records up to trial balance.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Process journals, accruals, prepayments, and month-end adjustments.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Prepare and review VAT returns.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Produce management accounts and supporting schedules where required.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC requirements.
- Liaise with external accountants and respond to finance-related queries.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Experience preparing accounts through to trial balance.
- Confident user of Xero and QuickBooks.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience with bank reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments, and VAT.
- High level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice or supporting multiple clients.
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting year-end accounts.
