We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Housing Solutions Officer to join a busy Housing Solutions & Prevention Service.
This is a frontline homelessness prevention role where you will work directly with households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, delivering housing advice, prevention interventions, homelessness assessments, and statutory decisions in accordance with the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
Experience of working in homelessness under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 is essential. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of making statutory homelessness decisions in line with the duties contained within the legislation.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of homelessness prevention, housing options, statutory duties, and safeguarding, together with excellent case management skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Deliver comprehensive housing advice and homelessness prevention services.

Work proactively with households to prevent homelessness at the earliest opportunity.

Carry out housing options interviews and assessments.

Develop and maintain Personal Housing Plans.

Provide realistic advice on housing options and rehousing opportunities.

Support applicants to access the Common Housing Register.

Work closely with private landlords to prevent tenancy breakdown and accommodation loss.

Promote sustainable housing solutions and tenancy sustainment.

Use homelessness prevention funds appropriately to secure positive outcomes.

Conduct home visits where required.
Undertake statutory homelessness assessments under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
Apply and manage duties including:

Investigate homelessness applications and gather supporting evidence.
Conduct enquiries with external agencies and partner organisations.
Make homelessness decisions in accordance with legislation, statutory guidance, and case law.
Prepare and issue detailed statutory decision letters.
Assess eligibility, homelessness status, and duties owed.
Determine when temporary or emergency accommodation is required.
Assess whether homelessness duties have ended.
Consider safeguarding concerns, medical evidence, and support needs when making decisions.
