Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible and reliable Delivery Driver to join our growing bakery team. This role is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional delivery of fresh bakery products to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, customer service, and vehicle care.
The successful candidate must be an experienced manual driver with proven experience operating commercial vehicles, including medium, large, and Luton-size vans. You will work closely with our production and warehouse teams to ensure orders are delivered accurately and efficiently while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the bakery.
Key Responsibilities
- Load bakery products safely and accurately according to delivery notes and customer orders.
- Deliver customer orders on time while providing friendly, professional, and courteous customer service.
- Handle all bakery products with care to maintain quality, prevent damage, and ensure excellent presentation.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and professionalism when representing the bakery.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures during transportation, including correct storage, temperature control, and vehicle cleanliness.
- Safely operate manual commercial delivery vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and company policies.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintain the cleanliness and general condition of delivery vehicles, reporting any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Complete all delivery paperwork, vehicle logs, and digital records accurately.
- Communicate any delivery delays, customer feedback, or operational issues promptly to the bakery management team.
- Assist with packing, loading, and manual handling of bakery products when required to support production and dispatch.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the bakery, its customers, and the wider team.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a delivery driver, logistics driver, or in a similar role is essential.
- Full UK manual driving licence with a clean driving record (manual driving is mandatory).
- Experience driving commercial vehicles, including medium, large, and Luton-size vans.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting, carrying, and handling bakery products safely throughout the working day.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Flexible to work early mornings, weekends, and occasional evenings as required by the business.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
- Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene is desirable; however, full training will be provided.
