£26,000 pro rata to 30 hours
Self Help UK (SHUK) is a 40 year old, Macmillan sponsored charity, which provides holistic support and knowledge via close interaction with local communities, peer groups and volunteers to: a) prevent long-term health conditions and b) help those with existing conditions to feel more confident, informed and supported in navigating their health journey in a way that works best for them.
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and versatile Business Support Officer to play a key role in the smooth running of our charity. This is a varied and pivotal position supporting senior leadership, managing office operations, and coordinating administration across finance, HR, IT and governance functions.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the CEO and project teams
- Manage correspondence, enquiries, calls and filing systems
- Support staff and volunteers with general administration
Office & Operations Management
- Lead day-to-day office operations and systems
- Manage meeting rooms, bookings and events
- Liaise with landlord and manage facilities
- Maintain office supplies and ensure security procedures
Governance & Board Support
- Support the Board of Trustees with meetings and documentation
- Maintain statutory records and submit returns
- Support AGM and governance processes
Finance Support
- Process invoices, expenses and financial records
- Support procurement and supplier coordination
- Maintain accurate financial data
IT & Systems Coordination
- Liaise with IT providers and manage equipment
- Support staff with IT queries and onboarding
- Maintain systems such as SharePoint and the customer relationship management (CRM) system
HR & Recruitment Support
- Support recruitment and onboarding processes
- Maintain HR systems and records
- Coordinate inductions and compliance
Compliance & Health & Safety
- Lead Health & Safety processes and risk assessments
- Ensure GDPR and regulatory compliance
- Act as Fire Marshal/First Aider (training provided)
About You
Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload. Strong communication skills and experience working with systems and stakeholders – not just via email, but through engaging in conversations to ascertain needs.
