We have an exciting opportunity for a Weekend Activities Coordinator.
We are a medium sized family owned care home with a tight knit and friendly team of permanent staff who care for our residents deeply. You will use your enthusiasm and creativity to plan and organise activities for our residents, enriching their lives and giving them independence, a sense of fulfilment and wellbeing.
You will grow to know our residents well, nurturing strong connections with them and learning about their lives, families, hobbies and interests. You will use this both in planning activities and spending time with them on an individual basis.
You will be a strong team player with creative flair, a sense of fun, good organisational skills and high energy. You will need good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate people of all backgrounds. Most of all you will be passionate about developing bonds, working with our residents, and creating activities to maximise their social, mental and physical wellbeing. Experience is not essential, and we will provide training and support for the right candidate.
The role will require
1. To organise all social activities / diversional therapy, considering residents' particular likes and dislikes as appropriate.
2. To liaise with Care Staff regarding the care of residents and particular activities that may be beneficial and stimulating.
3. To liaise with Care Staff regarding special individual requirements, such as the celebration of birthdays and anniversaries.
4. To liaise with Care Staff regarding special cultural and religious festivals and celebrations, and to be aware of the religious calendars that may affect activity pursuits, relevant to the ethnic mix of the residents.
5. To organise, and be involved in, activities that involve community visits outside of the Home and to co-ordinate the availability of transport for residents for such visits.
6. To plan activities to a set timetable and to ensure that these are communicated to residents and staff alike.
7. To ensure the provision of specialist media for residents with special needs (news tapes, book tapes, large-letter books and Braille, as required)
8. To communicate and liaise with relatives and friends of residents as needed.
9. To liaise with Care Staff to ensure that activities are documented on appropriate Care Plans and in Care Plan records.
10. To undertake and assist in other duties, as may be necessary from time to time.
A "can do" attitude is a must along with the ability to communicate well not only with your co workers but our wonderful residents too.
