Shift Electrician — Leigh | £37,000–£41,000 + bonus | Mon–Fri, no weekends
Location: Leigh, Greater Manchester (on-site)
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £37,000–£41,000 per annum, plus annual staff bonus scheme
Hours: 35 per week, Monday to Friday — two-shift rotation (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm; Fri 6am–11am / 11am–4pm). No weekends.
Are you a time-served electrician looking for a stable, permanent maintenance role with a proper work-life balance? We're recruiting a Shift Electrician for a well-established manufacturer in Leigh, keeping their plant and equipment running to regulatory and ISO standards. Monday to Friday, no weekends, and a genuinely strong benefits package.
The role
- Carry out repairs to electrical and electronic equipment in line with engineering standards and legislation (ISO, current wiring regs)
- Test and inspect electrical and electronic equipment to the testing timetable
- Support the Planned Preventative Maintenance system and drive a proactive, less reactive maintenance culture
- Carry out in-house calibrations, and assist with installation and maintenance on engineering projects
- Contribute to electrical and instrumentation drawings and documentation
- Assess risk on all work, follow the site Permit to Work system, and maintain high housekeeping and HSE standards
What you'll need
- Time-served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent
- Electrical maintenance and installation experience, ideally in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment
- Knowledge of AC drive control systems and the ability to read electrical drawings/schematics
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment working to deadlines
- Strong problem-solver, well organised, good communicator
- Current wiring regulation certification and AutoCAD are desirable, not essential
