Civil Engineering Foreman
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Civil Engineering Foreman to lead the day-to-day delivery of a civil engineering project.
The works will predominantly involve pit and duct installation, excavation, concreting, drainage, reinstatement and associated groundworks.
We need someone who can take ownership of the site and lead from the front, with responsibility for maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality, productivity and operative management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage site operatives and subcontractors on a daily basis.
- Supervise pit and duct, excavation, concreting, drainage and general civil engineering works.
- Take a proactive lead on health & safety and ensure works are completed in accordance with RAMS and site procedures.
- Deliver daily briefings and toolbox talks and ensure the workforce understands the planned activities.
- Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Plan and coordinate daily labour, plant, materials and deliveries.
- Monitor progress and productivity against the programme.
- Carry out regular site inspections and identify safety, quality or operational issues.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the site remains safe, organised and productive.
- Liaise with the Site Manager and engineering team regarding progress, upcoming works and any site constraints.
- Maintain accurate daily records of labour, plant and completed works.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Civil Engineering or Groundworks Foreman.
- Strong practical knowledge of pit and duct installation, excavation and concrete works.
- Experience managing and motivating site operatives.
- Strong understanding of construction health & safety.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and RAMS.
- Confident planning and coordinating labour, plant and materials.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A hands-on, proactive approach with the confidence to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site.
Essential Qualifications
All qualifications and competency cards must be valid and in date.
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
