Techxi is looking for caring, reliable and compassionate Home to School Passenger Assistants to support children and young people with additional needs on their journey to and from school.
This is a rewarding part-time role where you'll help create a safe, calm and positive travel experience for every passenger. Working alongside one of our professional drivers, you'll provide reassurance, encouragement and support throughout each journey.
No driving experience is required—just kindness, patience and a genuine desire to help others.
Important – Please Read Before Applying
This role is not suitable for:
- Parents or guardians who need to take their own children to school.
- Anyone unable to work Monday to Friday, covering both the morning and afternoon school runs.
Our Recruitment Team is on annual leave until 20th July, so applications received during this period will be reviewed at the end of July. If you apply before then, don't worry—we'll be in touch after we return.
Your allocated Techxi driver will collect you from your home address before each school run and return you home afterwards, so there's no need to travel to a depot or use your own vehicle for work.
What You'll Do
- Travel alongside children and young people during their journey to and from school.
- Support passengers with additional needs.
- Help passengers board and leave the vehicle safely.
- Provide reassurance, encouragement and supervision throughout each journey.
- Work closely with the driver to ensure every journey is safe, calm and enjoyable.
- Build positive relationships with passengers, families and schools.
- Help children arrive at school safely and return home with confidence.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
Morning School Run
Your Techxi driver collects you from home.
Travel with passengers to school.
Support passengers throughout the journey and at drop-off.
Your driver returns you home.
Afternoon School Run
Your Techxi driver collects you from home.
Travel with passengers from school.
Support passengers until they have safely arrived home.
Your driver returns you home.
Pay & Hours
£130–£200 per week
Your weekly pay is based on the length and complexity of your allocated school route.
- Weekly pay every Wednesday (1 week in arrears).
- Monday to Friday.
- Morning and afternoon school runs.
- Term Time Only.
- School holidays off by default.
Please note: Passenger Assistants are paid for the time they are actively supervising passengers whilst they are onboard the vehicle.
Your allocated Techxi driver will collect you from home before each school run and return you home afterwards. The collection and return journey is provided for your convenience and is not classed as paid working time.
What You'll Need
- A caring, patient and reliable nature.
- Good communication skills.
- Availability for both morning and afternoon school runs.
- An Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Already registered with the DBS Update Service? That's a bonus!
No DBS? No problem—we'll arrange one for you.
