The Role
The Specialist (Clinical) Trainer will work across Milewood services, delivering specialist and clinically focused learning, competency assessments and targeted development in response to operational and service needs.
Extensive travel across Milewood’s geographical regions is an essential part of this role and may occasionally require overnight stays.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant professional, clinical or specialist experience within adult social care, health or a related sector.
- Strong experience of delivering training, coaching or developing others.
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and/or complex support needs.
- Ability to deliver specialist and clinical subjects confidently and translate technical information into practical learning.
- Experience completing competency-based assessments.
- Ability and willingness to physically teach, demonstrate and assess Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI) skills as part of practical training delivery.
- Ability to safely participate in the physical elements of RPI training, including demonstrations, practice and competency assessment.
- Strong understanding of person-centred practice, safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act principles and positive risk management.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently across multiple services and priorities.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to undertake extensive travel as a core requirement of the role.
Desirable Requirements
- Ideally hold a registered nurse qualification, with a current and active NMC pin
- Recognised teaching or training qualification.
- Assessor or workplace competency qualification.
- Experience working as a clinical trainer, specialist trainer, practice educator or L&D professional.
- Previous experience delivering PBS/RPI or other accredited physical intervention training.
- Experience delivering medication, epilepsy, buccal midazolam, self-harm, ligature or other specialist social care training.
- Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training facilitator experience.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience working across a large multi-site organisation.
- Experience supporting post-incident learning and service improvement.
This role will be subject to a Enhanced against the barred list DBS check.
