Are you passionate about helping people and making a difference in your local community? We're looking for a Food Hub Assistant to join our team and support the day-to-day running of our Food Hub in Harold Hill, Havering.
This is an exciting new role that will work alongside the Food Hub Supervisor to ensure customers receive a welcoming, supportive, and efficient service. You'll help keep the Food Hub running smoothly by supporting operations, managing stock, assisting with events, and helping customers access affordable food and wider support services.

This is a part-time role working 8 hours per week, to work flexibly across Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on service needs. Shop opening hours are 1pm – 4pm, full day shifts are typically 9am – 4pm.
What you'll be doing

Welcoming and supporting Food Hub customers.

Assisting with referrals and helping people access food support.

Storing, handling and distributing food safely and in line with food hygiene regulations.

Maintaining clean, organised food storage and display areas.

Supporting deliveries, stock control and stock movement.

Signposting customers to additional support services where appropriate.

Completing accurate records, including food safety and financial documentation.

Undertaking cash handling duties when required.

Following health and safety policies and reporting any concerns promptly.
What we're looking for
-
Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in retail, hospitality, food, warehouse or stockroom environments.

Good communication and organisational skills.

Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

A proactive, friendly and community-focused approach.

Food safety and hygiene knowledge is desirable.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
