ANZUK Education is working with a group of specialist SEN schools across the Portsmouth area seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their teams, with flexible day-to-day supply and longer-term placements available. These positions offer the opportunity to help children and young people with a range of additional needs thrive both academically and personally.
The schools we partner with provide nurturing, inclusive environments, creating settings where support staff can focus on delivering tailored learning experiences and achieving strong pupil outcomes.
This Teaching Assistant role in Portsmouth would suit aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, support workers, or care professionals ready to make a meaningful difference for students with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom.
- Work alongside teachers and specialist staff to deliver tailored learning experiences.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
- Encourage student independence, confidence and engagement.
- Help create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, colleagues and families when required.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
- Bring a patient, compassionate and adaptable approach.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships and remaining calm under pressure.
- Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, attainment and behaviour.
- Hold an exemplary commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and eligibility to work in the UK.
- Bring a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Pay rates depend on experience, role type, umbrella or PAYE rate selection.
