Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a background in commercial driving, particularly those familiar with flatbed operations and delivery services. The position is full-time and involves delivering goods in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate a HGV Class 1 lorry, including flatbed vehicles, ensuring adherence to all road safety regulations and company policies
- Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring it is transported without damage
- Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel efficiency
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or issues promptly
- Maintain accurate documentation related to deliveries, including delivery notes and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding schedules, delays, or issues during transit
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements for commercial driving and transportation
- Uphold high standards of professionalism when interacting with clients and customers during deliveries
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar commercial driving role, preferably with flatbed operations
- Demonstrable knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for heavy vehicle operation
- Prior experience with delivery routes and logistics planning is desirable
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 licence with no more than six penalty points
- Experience in handling cargo securely and operating various types of commercial vehicles is advantageous
- Familiarity with driving in different weather conditions and urban or rural environments
