Higher Level Learning Support Assistant – Full-Time Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Higher Level Learning Support Assistant to join a small specialist educational setting on a full-time, permanent basis.
The school supports a small group of young people who are looked after and have experienced trauma. The successful candidate will need to have a strong understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and be confident supporting young people with ADHD and additional learning needs.
The Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the young people and teaching staff, supporting both their education and personal development.
The role will include:
- Supporting and teaching English and Maths
- Supporting students with Functional Skills
- Working with Pearson Edexcel programmes
- Providing individual and small-group support
- Supporting young people with ADHD and additional needs
- Understanding and responding appropriately to the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Supporting students with their confidence, behaviour and engagement with education
- Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role
- Experience teaching or supporting English and Maths
- Experience with Functional Skills and/or Pearson Edexcel
- Experience supporting young people with ADHD
- Understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma-informed approaches
- A patient, calm and supportive approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Hours & Contract
- Full-time, permanent position
- Hours are approximately 8:30am – 4:00pm (to be confirmed)

Pay: £27,550.00 per year
