We are seeking a Qualified Quantity Surveyor with at least 10 years of specific experience in shopfitting or internal renovation, ready to manage full commercial lifecycles, subcontractor procurement, and final accounts.
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent. We may consider an independent contractor who would work on a project-by-project basis but this position is not suitable for an agency worker.
About the Role: We are looking for a seasoned, fully qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. You will take full commercial and financial ownership of fast-track shopfitting and internal renovation projects. The ideal candidate brings a robust background in managing commercial fit-outs, retail environments, or high-end internal refurbishments from initial procurement to final account settlement.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management & Estimation: Prepare accurate cost plans, estimates, bills of quantities, and tender packages.
- Procurement: Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, handle tender analysis, and issue robust subcontract agreements.
- Contract Administration: Administer standard contracts (e.g., JCT/NEC), ensuring adherence to terms, tracking variations, and evaluating change controls.
- Valuations & Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit interim valuations, value completed works, and produce monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports.
- Final Accounts: Negotiate and agree on variations and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Risk & Dispute Management: Identify commercial risks, manage claims, and advise project teams on mitigation strategies.
- Site Liaison: Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress and verify quantities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must be professionally qualified (Holds a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, working toward or holding professional chartership like MRICS/MCIOB is preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience working as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Essential sector experience: Must have at least 10 years of hands-on experience specifically within shopfitting, commercial interiors, or internal renovation/refurbishment projects.
- In-depth working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contract frameworks.
- Strong negotiation, numerical, and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and industry measurement/cost software.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to live sites as required.
