Based in Northallerton, the FT Group comprises Walter Thompson (Contractors) Ltd, Tom Willoughby Ltd, and Langtons (Northallerton) Ltd, delivering high-quality construction projects across the UK.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious HSEQ Advisor to join our team and support the Group HSEQ Manager in delivering a first-class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) function across our businesses.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSEQ professional who enjoys working in a varied, hands-on role within the construction industry.
The Role
As HSEQ Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the Group continues to meet its legal and regulatory obligations while promoting a positive health, safety, environmental and quality culture throughout the organisation.
Working across multiple sites, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Group HSEQ Manager in maintaining and continually improving the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Carrying out site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring across all Group companies.
- Providing practical HSEQ advice and technical support to managers, employees, clients and subcontractors.
- Assisting with the maintenance of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Supporting compliance with current HSEQ legislation and industry best practice, including CDM Regulations 2015.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, producing reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Delivering in-house HSEQ training and toolbox talks.
- Promoting continuous improvement and helping to develop a proactive safety culture across the business.
About You
We are looking for someone who is motivated, approachable and confident communicating with people at all levels.
You will ideally have:
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in an HSEQ, Health & Safety or SHEQ Adviser role, within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Strong organisational and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
An environmental qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
