Working as part of the senior management team and reporting into the Assistant General Manager, the Bar Manager owns the end-to-end bar experience, ensuring it is commercially strong, operationally excellent and consistently delivers memorable guest experiences.
The role combines hands on leading with ensuring the bar is a standout part of the overall guest experience and will champion ‘small details, big difference’ on every shift.
Your day to day;
Guest Experience and Service Leadership
You will lead the bar team from the front during key trading periods, delivering a warm engaging and consistent guest experience. You will act as the escalation point for bar related guest issues and ensure the bar environment is always welcoming, vibrant and guest-ready.
Bar Operations Product Knowledge
You will own all aspects of drinks quality and presentation, ensuring that all products are delivered to spec and brand standards. You will lead on drinks innovation, menu changes and product launches at Inn level. You will maintain exceptional standards across beer (cask, keg, cellar quality), cocktails, coffee, wine and spirits and act as the knowledge expert for all beverage related issues.
Commercial Financial Accountability
You will have full ownership of bar financial performance including GP%, Sales performance and SPH. As part of this you will manage stock effectively: ordering, invoicing, stock takes and wastage control, analyse performance data to drive decision making and identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.
Labour Management Team Planning
You will own the bar rota, ensuring that labour is aligned to demand and trading patterns. You will manage labour costs within budget, build an efficient and productive team structure and support recruitment and retention of the bar team.
Standards, Audits Compliance
You will own bar, cellar and storeroom standards, delivering a consistently strong audit performance. You will ensure compliance: licensing, health safety, food safety (where applicable) and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization. As part of this you will ensure all checklists, processes and due diligence are completed.
Atmosphere, Ambience Detail
You will be responsible for the overall bar environment and feel, ensuring lighting, music and energy levels are always appropriate. You will maintain high standards across bar presentation, guest areas, toilets and surrounding areas, championing attention to detail across every guest touchpoint. Overall, you will ensure the bar contributes positively to the overall Inn experience.
Leadership Team Development
You will lead, coach and develop the bar team at all levels, helping them to build strong product knowledge and service confidence. You will deliver engaging pre-shift briefings and create a high performance, motivated team culture, recognising and celebrating team successes.
Communication Integration
You will work closely with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager to deliver business objectives. You will also collaborate with the Restaurant Manager and Guest Service Reservations coordinator to ensure alignment across all departments and communicating clearly with the team on business performance, targets and guest feedback.
Who are we looking for?
- Strong bar or wet-led hospitality management experience with a proven track record in delivering commercial results. You will be a passionate and skilled wet led operator.
- Commercially aware and performance driven with a strong understanding of stock control, GP management and confident working with data and KPI’s
- Experience in leading and developing teams, always leading from the front with energy and presence.
- Strong operational and organisational capability with high standards and attention to detail.
- Calm under pressure and solutions focused.
