Laser Operator - Shrewsbury - IMMEDIATE start available - NIGHT shift
Avid Personnel are proud to be representing their client as they look to hire a Laser Operator to join their manufacturing team based out of their Shrewsbury facility.
Our client is seeking someone with EXPERIENCE is Laser Cutting.
Ideally the successful candidate will have experience on Amada equipment, although, not essential as long a laser cutting experience.
This is a NIGHT shift after your first 'induction' week on days, so hours of work will be:
Week 1: Days, starting at 0700 - £14.50p/h on days
From week 2 onwards (ongoing): Nights 1600-0300 Monday to Thursday. £16.00p/h on nights
Duties
- Set up and operate laser cutting machine according to specifications and technical drawings
- Load and unload sheet metal materials safely and efficiently
- Adjust machine parameters to achieve optimal cutting quality and precision
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laser equipment
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformity to specifications
- Utilise hand tools and tooling to support fabrication processes
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
- Document production data accurately for quality control purposes
Experience
- Proven experience operating laser cutting machinery within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of sheet metal properties and handling techniques
- Familiarity with fabrication processes including grinding, welding, and assembly
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Skilled in using hand tools, tooling, and basic measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges
- Ability to perform basic maths calculations for measurements and tolerances
- Experience working with sheet metal components in a fast-paced production setting is desirable
