We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Pharmacist Manager to lead our forward-thinking community pharmacy in Bagshot, Surrey.
The pharmacy is part of a growing group of independent pharmacies focused on delivering excellent patient care, developing clinical services and building strong relationships with local GP practices and the surrounding community.
This role would suit an experienced community pharmacist who is confident managing a team, overseeing the day-to-day operation of a busy pharmacy and identifying opportunities to grow prescription volume, clinical services and overall pharmacy revenue.
You will have the support of an experienced wider management network, while retaining the autonomy to lead and develop your own pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Management and Operations
- Take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful operation of the pharmacy.
- Manage, motivate and develop the pharmacy team.
- Prepare and manage staff rotas, holidays and day-to-day staffing requirements.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Monitor pharmacy performance and implement improvements where required.
- Ensure stock, staffing and pharmacy resources are managed effectively.
- Deal confidently with staff performance, training and operational issues.
Clinical Service Delivery
Lead and deliver a growing range of NHS and private clinical services, including:
- Pharmacy First
- Travel health consultations and vaccinations
- Weight management consultations
- NHS and private contraception services
- Other commissioned and private pharmacy services
Training and support can be provided for suitable candidates who require additional service qualifications.
Business and Service Growth
- Increase the number of clinical services delivered by the pharmacy.
- Actively promote NHS and private services to patients and the local community.
- Identify opportunities to increase prescription item volume and patient registrations.
- Develop strong working relationships with local GP practices, healthcare providers, care organisations and local businesses.
- Support local marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Monitor service performance and work towards agreed growth targets.
- Encourage and train the pharmacy team to identify appropriate patients for services.
A structured performance incentive programme will reward increases in service delivery and pharmacy growth.
Leadership and Compliance
- Lead by example and create a positive, professional and accountable working environment.
- Mentor and support pharmacists, dispensers, healthcare assistants and other members of the pharmacy team.
- Ensure full compliance with GPhC standards, NHS contractual requirements, company procedures and pharmacy SOPs.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy managers across the wider group to share knowledge, ideas and best practices.
Essential Requirements
- GPhC-registered Pharmacist.
- Previous management or significant leadership experience within community pharmacy.
- Strong people-management and communication skills.
- Confidence managing staff, rotas and pharmacy operations.
- A strong understanding of NHS community pharmacy services.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in developing services and growing the business.
- Organised, reliable and able to take ownership of pharmacy performance.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering Pharmacy First.
- Experience providing travel vaccinations or other private services.
- Experience delivering weight management or contraceptive services.
- Experience building relationships with GP practices and other local healthcare providers.
- Independent Prescriber qualification or an interest in becoming an Independent Prescriber.
