The Role
The role oversees the full quality verification process, reviewing approved drawings and specifications, assessing workmanship quality, validating tolerances and finishes, and ensuring all elements meet technical and aesthetic requirements. Acting as the final quality gatekeeper, the inspector raises and tracks snagging lists, ensures non‑conformances are resolved, verifies corrective actions, and confirms full compliance before sign‑off.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct internal audits throughout the audit cycle and drive associated improvement activities.
- Carry out incoming material inspections, ensuring materials conform to purchase orders, material certificates and project specifications.
- Verify material identification and traceability are maintained throughout the fabrication process.
- Conduct dimensional inspections of fabricated components and assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform fit-up inspections prior to welding, ensuring joint preparation, alignment, dimensions and tolerances meet drawing and WPS requirements.
- In-process inspection of fabricated structures throughout manufacture.
- Inspect welded assemblies for compliance with approved drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), quality plans and customer specifications.
- Carry out visual weld inspections in accordance with applicable standards and acceptance criteria.
- Identify and record welding defects, non-conformances and areas requiring corrective action.
- Calibration of inspection and measuring equipment monitored and recorded on QC forms. Control of calibration periods.
- Responsible for all quality records, traceability documentation and adherence to customer specifications and project requirements.
- Verify that fabrication activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and manufacturing documentation.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in Structural Fabrication or manufacturing quality control.
- Deep understanding of inspection methodologies, tolerances, standards and ITP frameworks.
- Assist in the safe delivery of products, adhering to all relevant safety and quality guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Liaise with other departments to foster strong communication and collaboration.
- A meticulous eye for detail and a passion for delivering flawless work.
- Continuously look for ways to improve processes, increasing efficiency and product quality.
