Position: Full-time & weekend work
Location: Partington, Trafford
About Us
We're a family-run soft play and café business looking for an experienced Barista & Softplay Assistant.
About the Role
Epicland is looking for an experienced, hands-on Barista and Soft Play Assistant to join our team. This is an all-rounder role — your time will be spent behind the coffee machine making great coffee for our customers, but you'll also step onto the soft play floor when needed to supervise children, keep the area tidy, and make sure everything is running safely and smoothly.
We need someone who takes pride in their coffee, genuinely enjoys working with the public (including kids and parents), and can stay calm and organised when things get busy.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Front of House
- Greet and serve customers professionally, delivering friendly front-of-house service across café, soft play, parties, and events
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service, especially during busy periods
Café / Barista duties
- Prepare and serve coffee and other drinks to a consistently high standard (espresso-based drinks, milk texturing, latte art a plus)
- Operate and maintain the coffee machine and grinder
- Operate booking systems, tills, and card payment transactions accurately
- Keep the café area clean, stocked, and presentable
Soft Play, Parties & Events
- Actively supervise children in the play area to ensure their safety and positive behaviour
- Enforce play area rules and manage sock/entry checks as needed
- Support the delivery of children's parties and events from time to time
- Clean and tidy play equipment and surrounding areas throughout the day
- Respond to minor incidents (bumps, disputes between kids, spills) calmly and appropriately
- Help manage capacity and flow of the play area during peak times
Operations & Compliance
- Complete cleaning, maintenance, opening/closing, and compliance checks
- Support stock control, deliveries, and vending machines, helping to minimise wastage
- Follow all food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures at all times
- Work closely with supervisors and managers to help deliver high standards across the centre
What You'll Need
- Minimum 3 years' barista experience — genuine hands-on experience making coffee (espresso-based drinks) in a café, coffee shop, or similar setting. Please tell us specifically where you gained this experience.
- Strong customer service skills — friendly, patient, and confident talking to parents and children
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, sometimes loud and chaotic environment
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Full availability for 40 hours/week, including weekends and school holidays (our busiest times)
