Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Driver/Yard Person to join our team due to a member of staff retiring. Our company has been established since 1973 is a leading Roofing Company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating commercial vehicles, assisting with yard duties, and ensuring the smooth movement of goods and equipment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in driving, warehouse operations, and mechanical knowledge to contribute to a dynamic and busy environment. Hours are 7am - 3pm Mon -Fri.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including flatbed lorries 3.5T, to deliver goods to new housing sites throughout South Wales.
- Assist in the organisation and management of the yard, including loading and unloading materials.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic mechanical checks to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and communicate effectively with team members regarding schedules and deliveries.
- Assist with warehouse duties such as organising stock, preparing orders, and ensuring the yard remains tidy.
- Support the team with general labour tasks as required, including moving heavy items or equipment around the yard.
- Follow all health and safety regulations during driving and yard activities to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Valid 3.5T driver’s licence with a clean driving record. Max 6 points. Insurance has min age limit (25)
- Proven experience in commercial driving or as a delivery driver.
- Previous yard or warehouse experience is desirable. (Construction or heavy industry)
- Experience with flatbed lorries is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to operate various types of equipment safely and efficiently.
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks such as lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Organised, dependable, with a proactive approach to safety and teamwork. This position offers an engaging role for individuals eager to utilise their driving skills while supporting yard operations in a busy environment.
