Job Overview
An NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Locum CT3 / Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry to join its mental health services team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality psychiatric assessment, treatment, and management of patients across a range of psychiatric subspecialties, working closely with Consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor with sound psychiatric experience who is looking for an immediate start within a supportive NHS environment.
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise.
- Section 12 Approved under the Mental Health Act.
- Previous NHS Psychiatry experience at CT3, Specialty Doctor, or equivalent level.
- Experience in psychiatric assessment and risk management.
- Valid Right to Work in the UK.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
- Ability to start ASAP.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments.
- Develop and implement care and treatment plans.
- Manage inpatient and community psychiatric patients.
- Participate in Mental Health Act assessments where appropriate.
- Assess and manage clinical risk, including safeguarding concerns.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic patient records.
- Work collaboratively with Consultants, nursing staff, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and service improvement activities.
- Provide supervision and support to junior doctors where required.

Desirable Criteria
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or working towards completion.
- Previous experience as a Specialty Doctor or higher trainee in Psychiatry.
- Experience conducting Mental Health Act assessments.
- Evidence of audit, teaching, research, or quality improvement projects.
- Approved Clinician status (where applicable).

Pay: £50.00-£65.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 – 40.0 per week
