About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Housing Disrepair Solicitor to join our growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with a strong background in housing law who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for clients and delivering exceptional legal services.
The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of housing disrepair claims from inception through to conclusion, providing high-quality legal advice and representation while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and procedural requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of housing disrepair matters under the Pre-Action Protocol and through litigation where necessary.
- Advise clients on their legal rights and prospects of success.
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
- Conduct negotiations with landlords, insurers, and opposing solicitors.
- Instruct surveyors, counsel, and other experts where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with court deadlines, the Civil Procedure Rules, and internal procedures.
- Maintain accurate case management records and billing information.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and service.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the department.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
- Minimum of 2 years' PQE in housing disrepair litigation (applications from candidates with equivalent experience are also welcomed).
- Strong knowledge of housing law, landlord and tenant disputes, and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Experience managing a caseload independently.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Client-focused with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in case management systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- Experience acting under Conditional Fee Agreements.
- Advocacy experience.
- Familiarity with legal aid housing work.
- Experience supervising junior fee earners or paralegals.
