Overview
We are looking to recruit one or two compassionate and reliable Personal Assistants to join an established and supportive care team providing one-to-one support within a private family home in Chesterfield.
This is a re-advertised role due to expanding the team. You will be supporting a gentleman who has communication difficulties and right-side paralysis following a stroke. Despite these challenges, he maintains a strong personality, great sense of humour, and enjoys music, classic cars, and family life.
This role is focused on delivering person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and physical support tailored to individual needs
- Assist with mobility and transfers (due to right-side paralysis)
- Support communication and encourage engagement in daily activities
- Assist with meal preparation and light household tasks
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Work collaboratively with family members and the wider care team
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment
- Be available for weekend shifts and emergency cover when required
Working Pattern
- Flexible hours available
- Shifts may be full days or half days
- Half-day shifts are:
- 8:00am – 1:00pm
- 1:00pm – 6:00pm
- Weekend working and flexibility for emergency cover is required
- Please note: due to shift times, this role is not suitable for those needing to work around school drop-off or pick-up times
Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals with paralysis
- Experience with stroke or brain injury preferred but not essential
- A calm, patient, and respectful approach
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team
- Comfortable working within a private family home
- Driver preferred but not essential
- Must be dog-friendly
