Experienced General Manager at The Glasshouse
The Glasshouse is an independent modern British restaurant entering an exciting new chapter under new ownership. We are passionate about delivering exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and memorable dining experiences in a welcoming and supportive environment.
As we continue to grow and expand our evening service offering, we are looking for an experienced and hands on General Manager to join our leadership team.
Our current opening hours are:
- Sunday to Tuesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Wednesday to Saturday: 9:00am – Midnight
With plans to increase evening trading in the future, this is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the restaurant's development and success.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, hands-on, and dynamic hospitality professional who thrives in a high-quality, fast-paced environment. Working closely with the owner and head chef, you will be responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences, leading and developing the front-of-house team, and maintaining the highest standards of service, presentation, and operational excellence. Learning the managent of the team and the programs we use to maintain the running of the business.
This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a genuine passion for hospitality, and the ambition to help shape and grow a thriving independent restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and maintain outstanding guest experiences at all times.
- Lead, motivate, and develop front-of-house team members, creating a positive and collaborative working culture.
- Train and support team members to confidently manage sections of 20–30 guests while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, guest satisfaction, and team performance.
- Support the development and implementation of food and beverage menus through guest feedback and operational insight.
- Deliver team training on menu knowledge, allergens, dietary requirements, and service standards.
- Plan and oversee private events, functions, and special occasions with meticulous attention to detail.
- Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and team development.
- Manage staff rotas, holiday requests, and day-to-day people management responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, and company standards.
- Maintain online booking platform, and day to day maintenance platforms.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a General Manager within an independent or small group, premium dining environment.
- Strong background in high-volume, quality-led hospitality operations.
- Excellent food, wine, and service knowledge.
- Comprehensive understanding of allergens, dietary requirements, and staff training in these areas.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of food safety legislation, HACCP principles, and best practices.
- Experience within an independently owned restaurant is highly desirable.
Working Pattern
Weekend availability is essential for this position. However, we believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and operate a rotating schedule that allows weekends off throughout the team.

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
