Overview
As a Self Employed Live-in Carer, you will be a trusted companion and caregiver, offering assistance with daily activities and health needs while fostering independence and dignity.
This is a 24/7 live in care situation, flexibility and cooperation with the family, other carers and your own requirements is essential for a harmonious environment. As such there is the opportunity to work 5 days on 2 off or - 7 on 7 off or other permutations that suit.
Currently this may involve occasional waking care on some of those nights. Adequate breaks will be organised with other visiting carers. You will have your own bedroom with private en-suite.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort.
- Support with medication administration according to prescribed schedules and ensure proper documentation of all treatments.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary requirements and assist with feeding.
- Manage household tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Offer emotional support and companionship, engaging in meaningful conversations and activities to enhance mental well-being.
- Assist with mobility and transfer techniques using proper body mechanics to ensure safety during movement.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or health concerns, utilizing first aid skills when needed, and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in assisted living, home care, or nursing home environments with a strong understanding of patient care principles.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, and behavior management strategies.
- Relevant certifications such as first aid, medication administration training, or caregiving qualifications are highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for patient transfers or mobility assistance.
- Valid driving license essential for transportation needs; reliable vehicle is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with client and family members
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience, adaptability, and attention to detail for delivering high-quality senior care.
- Current DBS and References essential.
Pay: £1,000.00-£1,800.00 per week
