This is a part-time role working at the weekends, from 12-15 hours for the full weekend.
Job Summary:
The Bakery School Assistant is an essential role ensuring our classes run smoothly from start to finish. You'll support our instructors with class preparation, assist students throughout their workshops, maintain a clean and organised teaching space, and help create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that Comptoir Bakery is known for.
This is an ideal role for someone with a passion for baking, excellent customer service skills and a love of working with people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients, equipment and workstations before each class.
- Assist bakery instructors throughout workshops and demonstrations.
- Welcome guests and ensure they enjoy an outstanding learning experience.
- Support students during practical sessions, offering guidance where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and organisation throughout the Bakery School.
- Wash, sanitise and store equipment between classes.
- Package students' baked goods for them to take home.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and consumables.
- Help set up and clear down classes efficiently.
- Assist with bakery school events, corporate workshops and private bookings.
- Support photography and social media content during classes when required.
- Provide excellent customer service both in person and via email or telephone.
- Work closely with the bakery, café and management teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
Requirements - Essential:
- Previous experience in a bakery, kitchen, cookery school or hospitality environment.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or willingness to obtain one).
- Knowledge or an interest in artisan bread and French patisserie.
