Priory The Lighthouse is seeking a Cook to join the team on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week.
Located just outside Stroud town centre in Gloucestershire, The Lighthouse is a 5-bedded home supporting females aged 13–18 with mental health difficulties as part of Priory’s transitional living services. The service benefits from excellent transport links, including a short walk to Stroud town centre, nearby bus and train stations, and easy access to the M5 and M4 motorways.
The Cook promotes healthy eating and positive messages around food and body image, preparing nutritious meals for young people and staff, including for special occasions and cultural events. Working closely with Support Workers, they help encourage interest in cooking and develop independent living skills. The role is key in supporting young people who may have complex relationships with food, while ensuring the kitchen is safely and efficiently managed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning weekly menus that reflect cultural, health, allergy, and personal preferences
- Ordering and managing food supplies, balancing quality and cost
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety, and completing required records
- Supporting staff with meal provision when required

The role holder will be numerate, literate and will have been trained to NVQ3 standard with an Intermediate Food Safety Certificate and will have experience of preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment
