A position has become available within our small, local charity for a Van Driver/Warehouse assistant, working 21 hours over a set 4 days per week.
We are seeking an energetic and reliable Van Driver/Warehouse Assistant to join our small, dynamic team! This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of our logistics operations, combining driving responsibilities with warehouse support. As a key member of our team, you will ensure the smooth flow of goods, deliver exceptional service to our customers, donors and service users, and maintain efficient warehouse processes. Your enthusiasm and proactive approach will help us meet our goals while providing a positive experience for everyone involved.
Duties
- Safely operate delivery van that is a 3.5 ton luton van to transport goods
- Assist with loading and unloading items, including heavy lifting, to ensure safe handling and storage
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation for all deliveries and collections
- Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and donors to coordinate deliveries and collections
- Support warehouse operations by organising stock, managing inventory, and preparing items for delivery
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with road regulations
- Follow safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents and injuries during driving and warehouse activities
Requirements
- Proven experience as a delivery driver would be advantages
- The position is open to anyone with the ideal candidate being over 25 years of age for insurance purposes
- A valid clean, driver’s license or equivalent commercial driving license
- Previous warehouse experience is advantageous, especially involving heavy lifting
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with team members and customers
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to driving and warehouse operations
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- A knowledge of basic admin to be able to assist office staff
