We are seeking an experienced and committed Registered Care Home Manager to take over the leadership and day‑to‑day running of our Eastbourne care home. This is a hands‑on, visible leadership role where you will be responsible for ensuring the home operates safely, effectively, and in full compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, CQC guidance, and company policies.
Our home achieved a GOOD rating at its last CQC inspection (2018), and we are looking for a Manager who can maintain and further strengthen this standard.
Please note: The role requires working every other Saturday, with a weekday off in lieu to maintain a balanced working pattern.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain a high‑quality service rated “Good” or better by CQC and Local Authorities.
- Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations, Local Authority contracts, and all relevant health and social care legislation.
- Complete monthly management audits and ensure findings feed into the Service Improvement Plan (SIP).
- Review the SIP monthly and complete required actions promptly.
Leadership & Staff Development
- Provide strong, visible leadership by being regularly present on the floor rather than office‑based or working from home.
- Deliver regular supervision, appraisals, and Personal Development Plans (PDPs).
- Support staff development to ensure competence, confidence, and high standards of person‑centred care.
- Lead safe recruitment, induction, retention, and ongoing support of staff.
Person‑Centred Care
- Oversee personalised care planning, health action plans, activity schedules, and key‑working systems.
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and external agencies to ensure excellent practice.
Operational Management
- Create and manage a 4‑week rolling rota to ensure safe staffing levels.
- Provide hands‑on support and on‑call advice when required.
- Ensure payroll information is accurate, timely, and within budget.
- Maintain high standards of infection control, hygiene, and environmental safety.
- Ensure all equipment (lifts, fire systems, electrical systems, etc.) is maintained and certified.
Safeguarding & Governance
- Ensure staff understand MCA and DoLS and apply this knowledge in daily practice.
- Promote a culture where service users are protected from abuse and neglect.
- Maintain clear, professional records and attend reviews, meetings, and clinics as required.
- Ensure safe storage, control, and administration of medication.
Skills & Experience
- Experienced and accomplished CQC Registered Manager.
- Minimum 2–3 years supervisory experience in a similar care setting within the past 5 years.
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or working towards).
- Ability to assess needs and determine suitability for placement.
- Hands‑on, proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
- Excellent organisational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship‑builder with families, GPs, social workers, and the wider community.
- Natural leader able to motivate, support, and manage a staff team.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Positive growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
Working Pattern
- Monday to Friday, plus every other Saturday
- A weekday off in lieu for each Saturday worked
- Full‑time, in‑person role
- Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Eastbourne
Pay
Base Salary Start 37K - 40K + Performance Related Bonus of up to £5K
Pay: £37,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
