Mencap are looking for Support Workers to join our team in Gainsborough!
In this role, you will play an important role in supporting adults with learning disabilities across two supported living services. The people we support range from their mid-20s through to their 80s, making every day different and ensuring the role is both varied and rewarding.
We take a person-centred approach, recognising that everyone has their own interests, routines and support needs. You will get to know the people you work with and provide tailored assistance that helps them live as independently as possible, while making sure they feel safe, valued and supported.
Your role will include providing support within the home, from preparing meals and helping with laundry and cleaning to sorting post and maintaining a comfortable, safe environment. Depending on individual needs, you will also provide personal care and support with manual handling.
A key part of the role is helping people enjoy an active and fulfilling life outside of their home. You will support individuals to attend day centres and take part in community activities, as well as celebrating birthdays, holidays and local events. There’s plenty of opportunity to support a wide range of interests, including football, arts and crafts, volunteering, wrestling, shopping, theatre trips and evenings watching tribute bands.
Both services operate 24 hours a day, so flexibility is important. Day and evening shifts can range from 7am to 10pm, with sleep-in duties and weekend work also required on a rota basis.
If you’re looking for a varied role where you can build meaningful relationships, encourage independence and make a genuine difference to the lives of others, this could be the opportunity for you.
