Due to continued growth and increased demand, we’re looking for a Material Efficiency Lead – Procurement to join on a 6 month fixed-term contract in our Hardware Operations team. About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to lead material efficiency initiatives across our hardware operations, helping to reduce cost, waste, obsolescence and excess material consumption. You will play a key role in identifying improvement opportunities, collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving sustainable operational efficiencies without compromising quality or customer outcomes.
- Lead material efficiency initiatives that reduce cost, waste, obsolescence and excess consumption across hardware operations
- Analyse bill of materials (BOM) usage, scrap, substitutions and stock losses to identify high-value improvement opportunities
- Work closely with Procurement, Production and Engineering teams to optimise material selection and handling practices
- Support cost reduction initiatives through material rationalisation, standardisation and smarter sourcing decisions
- Monitor and report on material efficiency metrics, including scrap, inventory turns, usage variance and slow-moving stock
- Investigate recurring causes of material waste and implement corrective actions with relevant stakeholders
- Support product and process improvements that increase production yield and reduce unnecessary material consumption
- Maintain accurate records and data to support efficiency analysis, reporting and savings tracking
- Promote awareness of material costs and waste reduction across the business through communication and practical initiatives
- Ensure all efficiency improvements maintain the highest standards of safety, product quality and customer satisfaction
What we’ll need from you:
- Experience within procurement, supply chain, manufacturing or materials management
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Commercial, Product & Engineering and Operations
- Understanding of manufacturing, provisioning, supply chain or service logistics principles
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities
- Commercial awareness, including cost management, prioritisation and value creation
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings and influence decision-making
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence
Desirable:
- Experience operating within a global or partner-led supply chain environment
- Experience leading process improvement or change initiatives
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience working with ERP systems, inventory management tools or procurement analytics
