SOLIDCOR
Senior Warehouse Operative
Chesterfield, Derbyshire | Full-time, permanent | Production
Salary: £32,00–£34,000, dependent on experience
About Solidcor
Solidcor is Britain's fastest-growing fire door manufacturer. We were built in the aftermath of Grenfell by founders who saw the need for rapid change, and our mission has stayed the same since: make volume fire door replacement possible within days, not months, and help the industry achieve compliance and community safety fast.
Our R-Series and T-Series doorsets pair a solid, fire-resistant timber core with a maintenance-free finish, backed by the widest range of primary-tested configurations in the industry and an industry-leading 10-day production turnaround — the fastest in the market. We're trusted by NHS trusts, housing associations, contractors and communities across the UK to deliver doors that protect lives, fast.
We're changing how we recruit. We're not filling seats — we're building a team of the best people in the industry, and we're prepared to pay above the going rate to do it.
A New Factory. A New Standard.
2026 is the year Solidcor moves into a brand-new, state-of-the-art production facility, built from the ground up around a completely new way of working. We're investing in machinery imported from America, Italy, Spain and China — some of the most capable door-manufacturing technology in the world, brought together under one roof.
We're already best in class. This move is how we become world class. We're building an elite team who want to embrace that new way of working from day one and help take Solidcor to the next level.
The Role
As a Dispatch Operative, you'll be the last line before a fire door leaves our site — making sure every doorset is picked, checked, packed and loaded correctly, and gets to the right place, in the right condition, on time. It's fast-moving, hands-on work at the sharp end of a life-safety product: once it leaves the dock, there's no putting it right, so getting it right here matters. You’ll be passionate that all deliveries are ready on time and with everything the customers require. When receiving goods in you’ll be passionate about nursing the quality of the delivery and that all stock is added to the system for effective planning and stock control.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick, pack and prepare completed fire door sets for dispatch, matching every order accurately against delivery schedules and paperwork.
- Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently, protecting doorsets from damage in transit.
- Check outgoing doors for visible damage or defects before they leave site, flagging any issues before they ever reach a customer.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records and traceability documentation for every doorset leaving the building, supporting Solidcor's compliance and certification standards.
- Goods in – supply products to production
- Support stock counts and general inventory accuracy in the dispatch area.
- Keep the dispatch area organised, clean and safe, following correct manual handling and vehicle-loading practice.
- Raise ideas for improving the flow, speed or safety of dispatch — we act on good ideas from the shop floor, not just from the top.
- Spend time at the current factory learning products and transforming processes.
- Sitting up the new factory.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a warehouse, dispatch, logistics or manufacturing environment.
- A careful, organised approach — you get the right doors to the right place, every time, not just most of the time.
- Comfortable with active, physical work and safe manual handling.
- Confidence following paperwork, delivery notes and basic systems accurately.
- A forklift/counterbalance licence is an advantage, though not essential — we'll train the right person.
- A genuine sense of responsibility for a product that protects lives — even though you're not the one building it, you're the last check before it leaves the building.
- Above all, cultural fit. This role is for people who bring our three values to life in dispatch every day.
Our Values — What We Actually Hire For
- Athlete's Grit — you keep the pace and the accuracy up through a busy dispatch day, right through to the last vehicle of the shift, not just the easy ones.
- Captain's Duty — you take ownership of what leaves the building on your watch, checking it's right rather than assuming someone else will catch a problem.
- Fun-Loving Heart — you're good to have alongside on a demanding shift, and you help make the dispatch bay a place people want to work.
What You'll Get
- The chance to be part of the founding team in our brand-new, state-of-the-art factory, as we move from best-in-class to world-class.
- A salary set deliberately above the industry standard for dispatch and warehouse roles, because we want the best and we're prepared to pay for it.
- A modern, well-invested production environment as Solidcor continues to grow.
- Real purpose in the work: every door that leaves your dock makes a building safer.
- Benefits package: pension, holiday entitlement, overtime, breakfast.
