Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Passenger Assistant to join our team for the and Warwickshire SEND School contract. This vital role involves ensuring the safe, comfortable, and supportive transportation of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As a Passenger Assistant, you will play a key part in creating a positive travel experience, promoting safety, and supporting students throughout their journey to and from school. Duties
- Assist students with boarding and alighting from transport vehicles, ensuring their safety at all times
- Support students during travel by providing reassurance, encouragement, and behavioral management as needed
- Ensure the safe transportation of students by adhering to all safety protocols and traffic regulations
- Help maintain a calm and positive environment on the vehicle, addressing any behavioral or emotional needs
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and colleagues regarding student wellbeing and transport arrangements
- Assist with basic care needs such as meal preparation, medication administration (if trained), or helping with personal hygiene routines when necessary
- Conduct routine checks on transport vehicles to ensure cleanliness, safety equipment functionality, and overall readiness
Requirements
- Previous experience assisting individuals with special educational needs or in assisted living environments is highly desirable
- Enhanced DBS
- First aid certification, Safeguarding and PATS Training or willingness to obtain prior to starting work
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children who have diverse needs
- Flexibility to work early mornings, afternoons, or school hours as required
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviors effectively
