Speech and Language Graduate - Stretford
Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives? Do you have experience supporting children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties?
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Graduate to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) within our primary school from September 2026. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to help pupils develop their communication skills and access learning opportunities.
About the Role:

Support pupils to develop communication skills through individual and group interventions.

Implement speech and language programmes and targets as directed by the Speech and Language Therapist.

Use a range of communication approaches, including Makaton, PECS, AAC devices, visual supports, objects of reference, and intensive interaction.

Facilitate communication opportunities throughout the school day, encouraging pupils to express choices, needs, and preferences.

Assist in the delivery of sensory and communication-based activities tailored to individual pupil needs.

Monitor and record pupil progress against communication targets and provide feedback to teaching staff and therapists.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents/carers, and other professionals to ensure consistency of communication strategies.

Support pupils with personal care, feeding, and mobility needs where required.

Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and communication-rich learning environment.

Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and pupil wellbeing always.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience supporting pupils with PMLD

A recent Speech and Language degree
-
An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
