This is your chance to join Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. Your role will help contribute to creating a resilient and well-maintained highway network working within our highway structures and assets team.
You will form a key part of our Highway Assets team. As an Inspector for our highway structures department, you will be responsible for undertaking inspections and producing inspection reports, surveys, and investigations on various bridges, walls and other highway structures.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Inspector to join our team and help us achieve our mission, to make Blackburn with Darwen a great place to live.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect highway structures,
- Identify issues and defects,
- Document findings and keep accurate records
- Ensure compliance with current codes of practice,
- Collaborate with the team on repair works
- Supervise minor maintenance works and site activities
The role will also involve outdoor and loan working. You will be required to effectively manage your own time to deliver inspections. What We Offer:

On the job training will be available to the successful candidate focusing primarily on gaining further knowledge and skills to enable the progression of the role.
Qualifications:
- Level 2, 3, i.e. A-Level or BTEC in Civil/Structural engineering or similar, relevant qualification.
- Previous experience in bridge or structure inspections.
- A keen eye for spotting defects and issues
- Strong self-organisational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and report writing / record keeping abilities.
- A commitment to safety and quality.
