Andrew Watt Ltd has been supplying car parts to independent garages across Glasgow since 1935, and our continued success is down to a knowledgeable, friendly team that workshops trust to get the right part, first time. We're now looking for a Parts Advisor to join the trade counter at our Bridgeton branch.
The role
This is a front-of-house parts role — you're the person our garage customers speak to when they need a component fast. You'll handle counter and phone enquiries, identify the correct parts using our catalogue and stock systems, take payment, and pick and pack orders. Like everyone on our team, you'll get stuck into all 360 degrees of the operation: serving the counter, answering the phones, putting stock away, picking orders and helping with deliveries out on the vans.
Parts experience ptefered. If you're sharp, good with people and comfortable picking up computer systems, we'll teach you the trade. But it would really help your chances of securing the position if you have had some experience with car parts, be that working on your own car, working in a garage, or having previous experience in a car component distributor. We especially welcome career-changers and anyone with a strong background in office work, retail, admin or customer service who's looking for a hands-on role with a solid, long-established local business.
What we're looking for
- A confident, friendly manner on the phone and face to face
- Comfortable learning and using computer systems (stock/catalogue software, email, card payments)
- Accurate, organised and with a good eye for detail
- A full UK driving licence — you'll be out on delivery runs as part of the wider team, so this is essential
- Willing to learn every side of the business and stay flexible on tasks and hours
- Able to lift and move car components (manual handling is part of the job)
- Local to, or within easy reach of, Bridgeton
Responsibilities
- Serve trade customers at the counter and over the phone, identifying the correct parts
- Use our catalogue and stock systems to check availability and place orders
- Process sales and take payment accurately
- Pick, pack and put stock away; keep the counter and warehouse tidy and organised
- Carry out delivery runs and warehouse tasks as part of the 360-degree team
- Build strong relationships with our garage customers and deliver first-class service
Pay: £27,028.00 per year
