About Us
Diamond Industrial Supplies is one of Scotland's fastest-growing independent industrial suppliers. We supply PPE, workwear, tools, site consumables and industrial products to customers across a wide range of industries, backed by exceptional service and strong supplier partnerships.
Since 2022 we have more than doubled in size and now operate with ambitious plans for continued growth. We're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of our finance function and play a key role in supporting the next stage of our journey.
The Role
This is not an accounts assistant position.
We are looking for someone who can take full ownership of our finance department, operate independently and become a trusted member of the management team.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the complete finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls and providing commercial insight to support business decisions.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a growing SME where they can make a genuine impact rather than being another cog in a large finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts.
- Prepare monthly profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital.
- Complete VAT returns and statutory submissions.
- Maintain the purchase and sales ledgers.
- Oversee credit control and debtor management.
- Carry out bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end and year-end accounts.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors and HMRC.
- Process journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful management information.
- Develop budgets and financial forecasts.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
- Support the Managing Director with commercial analysis and business planning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting and financial regulations.
About You
You'll be an experienced finance professional who enjoys taking ownership and solving problems. You won't need daily supervision, you'll be confident making decisions, improving processes and ensuring the finance function runs smoothly.
You'll be commercially aware, organised and comfortable working closely with senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Company Accountant or similar role.
- Experience managing the full finance function within an SME.
- Strong understanding of management accounts, VAT, cash flow and month-end reporting.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Experience working within wholesale, distribution or industrial supply businesses.
- Experience improving finance processes and implementing controls.
- AAT qualified, ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified (or qualified by experience).
What We Offer
- Opportunity to take ownership of the finance function.
- A key role within an ambitious, growing family business.
- Supportive management team with genuine opportunity to influence business decisions.
- Long-term career progression as the business continues to grow.
If you're looking for a role where your work genuinely makes a difference and where you'll have the autonomy to shape and improve the finance function, we'd love to hear from you.
