Caring Alternatives has a full time vacancy for an experienced Support Worker to join our team providing outcome focused, individualised support for 8 clients. We always take a pro-active, holistic and person-centred approach to enable people to achieve their stated goals. The ideal candidate will provide:
Key Responsibilities:
- Emotional Support: Offer empathetic listening, practical advice, and guidance to help individuals feel understood and validated.
- Daily Living Assistance: Prompts
- with personal grooming, eating, medication management, and household chores.
- Monitoring and Interventions: Observe changes in behaviour or mood, monitor medication use, and provide crisis support when necessary.
- Developing Care Plans: Collaborate with individuals to create personalised care plans that address their specific needs, goals, and challenges.
- Skill Development: Help individuals develop personal skills, engage in hobbies, and access community services and social activities.
- Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocate for the rights of individuals and empower them to take control of their mental health, promoting independence and self-confidence.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience working with individuals who have mental health illnesses other than dementia.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
