The People Officer is responsible for handling a variety of employee relations issues and actively contributing to People projects and OD work.
This position requires proactively advising on complex employment matters. The People Officer offers expert guidance on topics such as disciplinary actions, grievances, and managing absences, helping managers navigate challenging HR cases and ensuring compliance with NHS policies and employment laws.
Along with interpreting and applying People policies, the role includes leading and supporting HR projects aimed at boosting organisational effectiveness and enhancing the employee lifecycle including policy development and process improvements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve positive results, and keeping the People management Team informed about project progress.
Provide expert advice on a range of employee relations matters such as disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
Advise on the interpretation and application of People policies and procedures.
Stay updated with changes in employment legislation and NHS guidelines, ensuring this knowledge is reflected in advice and project work.
Support managers in handling complex cases, ensuring compliance with NHS policies and employment law.
Act as a liaison between staff and management to facilitate effective communication and resolution of HR issues.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with managers and other stakeholders across the organisation.
Liaise with external services when needed to obtain relevant information (e.g., occupational health, outsourced transaction HR services).
Lead and contribute to People and OD projects, which may include areas such as policy development and HR process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes and monitor project progress and provide regular updates to HR management.
Deliver training sessions on People topics and employee relations matters to management and staff.
Support the development and implementation of training programmes related to HR projects.
Maintain accurate employee relations records and HR databases.
Analyse HR data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.
