Fleet Compliance Officer
Purpose of the Role
The Fleet Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that all commercial vehicles, drivers, and transport operations remain fully compliant with current legislation, regulatory requirements, and company policies. The role supports the Transport Manager in maintaining the organisation's Operator Licence obligations, promoting road safety, and ensuring the highest standards of fleet compliance across all HGV operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Compliance
- Monitor and maintain compliance with Operator Licence undertakings and transport legislation.
- Ensure all vehicles are inspected, serviced, and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements and company schedules.
- Monitor preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), MOTs, servicing, and defect rectification programmes.
- Maintain accurate fleet maintenance records and compliance documentation.
- Ensure vehicle tax, insurance, permits, and certification remain current and valid.
Driver Compliance
- Conduct regular driver licence checks and maintain associated records.
- Monitor Driver CPC qualifications and training requirements.
- Support compliance with drivers' hours regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Review tachograph data and identify infringements, trends, and corrective actions.
- Assist in the investigation of compliance breaches and implement improvement measures.
Auditing and Monitoring
- Carry out internal compliance audits across transport operations.
- Monitor key compliance performance indicators and report findings to management.
- Prepare documentation for DVSA inspections, audits, and external assessments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance standards.
Incident Management
- Assist with the investigation of vehicle incidents, collisions, and compliance-related matters.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and corrective actions.
- Ensure lessons learned are communicated and embedded within operational practices.
Policy and Procedure Development
- Support the development and implementation of transport compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure operational practices remain aligned with current legislation and industry best practice.
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and accountability throughout the organisation.
Knowledge and Experience
- Sound understanding of HGV transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements.
- Knowledge of DVSA regulations, drivers' hours, tachograph legislation, and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Experience of fleet maintenance planning and compliance management.
- Familiarity with transport management systems and compliance monitoring software.
- Previous experience within a transport, logistics, or fleet environment.

Pay: £33,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
